Welcome Marielle Guille, written By Elizabeth Bourne, Director of the Spitsbergen Artists Center in Longyearbyen (Svalbard).
The Spitsbergen Artists Center is located in Nybyen, south from Longyearbyen, in Longyeardalen, at the foot of the two glaciers Longyearbreen and Larsbreen. The buildings in Nybyen were used by miners during the mining period.
The center is in one of the builings, and it is dedicated to arts, with a craft center where local creators and artists work, an artists residency, an exhibition space.
The exhibition space "exhibits the work of local and international artists of all disciplines who are working on projects involving the polar regions and climate change". Have a look.
