La cryosphère et l’océan des régions polaires influencent le climat, les écosystèmes et les systèmes sociaux de ces régions mais aussi de l’ensemble de la planète. L’arctique est un territoire local où se jouent des enjeux globaux. La banquise a un rôle majeur dans les régulations climatiques.
Sentinelle du changement climatique, « l’arctique vert » est un paradoxe, le symbole d’un réchauffement climatique accéléré qui menace l’ensemble des équilibres planétaires.
Le vert y est la couleur d’une catastrophe.
Avec ou sans glace en Arctique, cela change tout à Saint-Malo et ailleurs. Ce que l’on fait à Saint-Malo ou ailleurs change l’Arctique.
Action, rétroaction, interdépendance, incertitudes, émergences sont quelques uns des mécanismes à l’œuvre.
Par l’océan global et le climat, Saint-Malo est, comme l’ensemble des littoraux, un territoire local qui doit faire face au changement climatique.

The cryosphere and the polar ocean influence the climate, ecosystems and social systems of these regions but also of the whole planet. The Arctic is a local
territory where global issues are at stake. Sea ice plays a major role in climate regulation.

With or without ice in the Arctic, that changes everything in Saint-Malo and everywhere else.
What we do in Saint-Malo or elsewhere changes the Arctic.
Action, retroaction, interdependence, uncertainties, and emergencies are some of the mechanisms at work.
Through the global ocean and the climate, Saint-Malo is, like all the coasts, a local territory that has to deal with climate change.
For a good use of ice, what can we do today?
Le projet implique une équipe pluridisciplinaire sous la direction de Marielle Guille, qui met en œuvre dynamique un art transdisciplinaire. Ce projet est inédit, original, construit à partir des caractéristiques spécifiques du territoire local en dialogue avec l'écosystème planétaire. Il est d'abord destiné aux jeunes. Le projet intègre les droits culturels comme base de mise en œuvre, et de pratique.
Avec ou Sans Glace ? est une œuvre-projet, véritable espaces-temps d'expérimentation, de création, de recherche, d'apprentissage et d'innovation, espace ouvert et participatif d'utopie pour penser, rencontrer, expérimenter et changer le monde. Elle vise à la transformation de l'art et de la culture en faveur du climat et de la résilience, propose une nouvelle forme d'art engagé, et renouvelle la place de l'artiste dans le monde contemporain.
Avec cette forme de création, l'artiste revendique le processus comme partie de l’œuvre. Pour la mise en œuvre de ce processus, l'artiste s'inspire des écosystèmes naturels, et agit avec la complexité, reconnaissant les interdépendances et opportunités d'émergences.
L'Art est processeur, participe d'une méthode de prospective intuitive et sensible, initie et accompagne les changements.
Ces recherche-créations prendront formes d'oeuvres, d'exposition, et d'éditions.
With or Without Ice? is a work-project, a real space-time of experimentation, creation, research, learning and innovation, an open and participative utopian space to think, meet, experiment and change the world. It aims to transform art and culture in favor of the climate and resilience, it proposes a new form of committed art, and renews the place of the artist in the contemporary world.
With this form of creation, the artist claims the process as part of the work. For the implementation of this process, the artist is inspired by natural ecosystems, and acts with complexity, recognizing the interdependencies and opportunities for emergence.
Art is processor, and participates in an intuitive and sensitive prospective method, initiating and accompanying change.
This research-creations aim to create artorks, exhibitions, and publications.
Avec ou sans Glace ? invite par des expéditions-performances artistique participatives à comprendre nos liens sensibles, vivants et vitaux à la cryosphère. C'est aussi un projet au long court. Une invitation à écrire et partager de nouveaux récits de la glace, de nos liens avec l'écosystème planétaire.
Le projet est né de l'idée d'une mise en scène d'un sauvetage d'urgence de la banquise de l'arctique comme contexte de création, de questionnement, d'observation critique de nos modes de fonctionnements. La première création questionne d'une manière décalée notre fonctionnement, en particulier notre incapacité à agir autrement que dans l'urgence face au réchauffement climatique, urgence qui justifie déploiement de moyens technologiques, héros, et actualités sensationnelles. En dialogue avec cette mise en scène, le projet est un espace de rencontre, d'expression des émotions liées à l'état de la planète, de participation pour ouvrir aux jeunes participants en Bretagne des pistes pour se réaliser et agir dans un monde en mutation.
Quelles transformations de l'artiste et des jeunes engagés dans le projet, le déplacement vers l'Arctique peut-il générer ? Comment faire un voyage à impact positif ? Comment s'y rendre sans participer à sa dégradation ? Quels sont les liens à la glace d'autres jeunes européens, danois, finlandais, norvégiens ou samis ? sont autant de questions fondamentales qui ont façonnées le projet.
With or Without Ice? invites through participatory artistic performance-expeditions an understanding of our sensitive, living, and vital links to the cryosphere. It is also a long-term project. An invitation to write and share new ice stories.
The project was born from the idea to stage an emergency rescue of the sea ice in the arctic as a context for creation, questioning, critical observation of our modes of operation, and invites a paradigm of thought. It questions our functioning in an offbeat way, in particular our inability to act other than urgently in the face of global warming, an emergency that justifies the deployment of technological means, heroes, and sensational news. In conjunction with this staging, the project is a space for encounters between young people, to give them a space to share local or personal experiences, for education on the role of the cryosphere in the terrestrial ecosystem and climate regulation, for the expression of emotions linked to the state of the planet, of participation enabling fulfilling avenues to young participants and to act in a changing world, in Saint-Malo, Gdansk, Klaipeda, Riga, Talinn, Oulu, and Longyearbyen. This project is therefore co-constructed with the contributions of the young participants.
